She’s Excited to Die

A Salon Encounter Turned Soul Assignment

Just as I was leaving the salon today, an older woman entered asking about a business that was no longer there. Within moments her sadness poured out like a flood.

She told me she was excited about dying.

I was one foot out the door, but instead of rushing off, I took a seat beside her. For more than an hour I listened as she shared stories of tragedy, loss, and loneliness. She has buried many loved ones, and the few who remain are struggling. Every word carried the weight of despair.

The Power of Words

I gently interrupted and reminded her that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”

Her words mattered. Her life mattered.

I repeated it until she began to hear it—she deserves to be kind to herself.

Too many people believe that God wants us to suffer endlessly to prove our faith. That is a great misconception.

Scripture says, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers us out of them all.”

God has already given us all things that pertain to life and godliness—not just survival, but strength, joy, and wisdom.

Resilience: The Master Course on Faith

Revelation tells us, “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord… their works do follow them.”

That means our time here matters. We are called to work while it is day, to endure hardness as good soldiers, and to overcome evil with good.

Problems don’t come to destroy us—they come to give us dominion and authority over every enemy.

They’re training grounds for faith.

Resilience means guarding your mind, praying for wisdom, and learning how to navigate the rough terrain so you can help someone else overcome. It’s the master course on faith—trusting the Way Maker to lead you through every valley.

Peace and Joy Are Weapons

Hide the Word in your heart. Christ gives us the power to live not in regret or sadness, but in power, love, and a sound mind.

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee.” — Isaiah 26:3

Peace is a weapon of war.

Joy is another. “The joy of the Lord is your strength.”

When you guard your peace and protect your joy, you disarm the enemy.

That day in the salon, I sat with her fully armored in peace, joy, and the Holy Ghost.

Recover Your Soul

As we ended, I told her to recover her soul—to remember she is a fountain of strength.

No matter how broken she felt—heart, mind, soul, or body—I reminded her that she will teach others how to go through.

I said, “You are the matriarch of wisdom—don’t fail those behind you.”

She smiled faintly and told me about her mother who lived almost a hundred years, passed her driver’s test at 92, and still exercised. “I’m not like my mother,” she whispered.

But I reminded her—her mother always spoke life and saw the best in everything.

Let’s take a page from that legacy—living words of healing—and begin adding life back into our own Soul Shopping Cart.

Let peace, joy, faith, and resilience be the items you never forget to restock.

Healing is the children’s bread.

Let’s rise again in new strength and faith.
